Buying Guide · electric bakery oven site power assessment
Check Site Power Before an Electric Oven RFQ
Before requesting an electric bakery oven quote, have a qualified local electrical professional check the available supply and planned concurrent loads. The oven nameplate alone cannot show whether the bakery distribution system can support the project.

Collect the site facts first
Provide the destination country, supply voltage, phase, frequency, main service capacity and the proposed oven location. Ask the site electrician for the panel schedule and the practical route for a new feeder. Record other large loads that run while baking, such as mixers, proofers and cooling equipment.
Request the proposed oven’s rated connected load, peak operating demand where available, connection points and required protection from the manufacturer. Keep the supplier’s figures separate from the electrician’s verified site capacity; neither side can certify the other’s scope from a brochure.
Define building work in the quotation
Ask who supplies the isolator, cable, panel upgrade, transformer if needed, earthing and final connection. Show the route and installation clearances on the layout. Local codes, permits and inspection requirements must be checked for the actual site.
AMF Bakery Systems notes that conversion to electric baking may require electrical infrastructure upgrades. That observation supports early assessment, but it does not prove a particular oven will need a new service or that a conversion will save energy at this bakery.
Separate equipment acceptance from site approval
The factory test can confirm the ordered electrical configuration and documented functions. Site commissioning must then confirm the installed connection, protective devices and operation under the real production schedule. Have qualified personnel perform those checks under local rules.
Put the utility drawings, nameplate, approved connection scope and commissioning evidence into the handover pack. If the power upgrade is still uncertain, make the purchase schedule conditional on a completed site review instead of treating a provisional quote as installation-ready.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compare electric ovens by rated kilowatts alone?
No. Confirm the complete configuration, production duty and the site’s capacity for simultaneous loads.
Does an existing three-phase supply guarantee installation?
No. Available capacity, protection, cable route and local approval still need verification.
Who confirms the building connection?
A qualified local electrical professional should assess and approve the site work; the oven supplier confirms its equipment requirements.
