Buying Guide · rotary rack oven suspension hook vs platform selection
Choose a Rack Oven Hook or Rotating Platform
Specify how the proposed rack oven will support and rotate your loaded rack before approving the quotation. A suspension hook and a rotating floor platform require different rack details, loading steps and site checks; the offered method must be named on the drawing and test plan.

Start with the loaded rack and the route
Send the supplier a dimensioned rack drawing, including overall height, wheel position, top suspension point, bottom guide and maximum planned loaded mass. Show the route from tray loading through the proofer to the oven, including door thresholds and turns. A nominal tray count does not establish that an existing trolley can engage the oven safely.
Sveba Dahlen publishes both hook and platform configurations and separate rack interface measurements. These are examples of configuration differences, not compatibility specifications for another manufacturer. Ask the seller to identify the exact support design of the quoted model.
Compare the actual loading sequence
For a hook or lift arrangement, ask how the rack is engaged, guided and released, who performs each step and what clearances the loaded rack needs. For a floor platform, ask about the ramp, wheel travel, stops and access for cleaning. Record whether a second person is needed in the planned shift; do not infer labour savings from a brochure image.
The oven door swing, floor level and waiting position for the next rack affect both alternatives. Request a plan view and a loading demonstration using a rack with the intended geometry and weight. Confirm the supplier’s permitted load for the exact option, without borrowing a limit from a different model.
Put the choice into the purchase specification
Name the support method, compatible rack drawing revision, ramp or lift option, door orientation and included accessories in the purchase order. State who supplies any new racks and how compatibility with existing proofers and cooling areas will be confirmed. Distinguish equipment included in the base price from optional hardware.
At factory acceptance, witness loading, rotation, stopping at the unloading position and unloading with the agreed test rack. Record deviations and the agreed resolution before shipment. Local commissioning must then confirm the floor, access route and operator procedure with the installed equipment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an existing rack be reused in either design?
Only after its dimensions, support points, wheel route and loaded mass are checked against the exact oven configuration.
Does a platform remove the need for a ramp?
Do not assume so. Ask for the offered platform and floor arrangement on a dimensioned loading drawing.
What belongs in the acceptance test?
Use the approved rack to witness engagement, rotation, stop position and unloading, and document any unresolved interface.
