Buying Guide · tunnel oven infeed outfeed interface RFQ
Specify Tunnel Oven Infeed and Outfeed Interfaces
A tunnel oven quotation is incomplete until the upstream former and downstream cooling equipment can transfer the intended product without an undefined gap. Specify the infeed and outfeed as measurable interfaces, with drawings and an integrated trial.

Map each product at the transfer point
Give bidders product dimensions, mass, lane count, row pitch and stability before and after baking. State whether pieces travel directly on a band, on pans or on another carrier. Fragile or soft products may need different transfer support from rigid biscuits; the proposed method should be shown for each representative SKU.
Provide the working width, transfer height, belt direction and available straight length at both ends. Sveba Dahlen describes configurable oven infeed and outfeed conveyors, while GEA describes the oven-to-cooling transfer. These examples support asking for a project-specific interface, not assuming any two machines will connect.
Define speed and stop behaviour
Ask for the oven band speed range and the speed relationship to the former, loader, discharge and cooling conveyor. Record what happens when the former stops, the oven is still baking or the cooler is full. The supplier should show which signals initiate a controlled stop and where product can wait without damage.
Request a controls responsibility matrix naming the supplier of each sensor, drive, interface signal and emergency-stop boundary. Agree how a recipe change affects lane pattern and speed. A nominal throughput figure cannot answer these control questions.
Test the complete handoff before acceptance
Agree a trial with the most fragile and the highest-rate products. Record skew, breakage, sticking, edge loss and spacing at the two interfaces after stable running and a controlled stop and restart. Use buyer-approved limits; do not invent a universal reject percentage.
Put the approved layout, interface list and unresolved actions into the contract and later site acceptance plan. If different vendors supply the former, oven and cooler, name who owns integration, commissioning and fault resolution at each boundary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is matching conveyor width enough?
No. Height, speed, lane pattern, product support and stop logic also affect the handoff.
Who should specify control signals?
The buyer should require an interface matrix, and each supplier should confirm its delivered signals and responsibility.
What product should be trialled?
Use representative products that challenge transfer stability and planned peak rate, including a stop and restart.
